Paris Fiction: Mark Pryor’s Henri Lefort series not to be missed, etc.

Talk about rabbit holing!

My latest writing project, about World War II France, takes me to new rabbit warrens every day, or so it seems. I thought it only fair to share some of my finds here on “Gherkins & Tomatoes.”

And among those finds is novelist Mark Pryor.

According to his bio, his background includes journalism and felony prosecution. That’s a terrific combination for his Henri Lefort series, featuring a Paris policeman dealing with the German occupation of Paris. At present, the series includes two books, with a third promised for August 2024. The first two are Die Around Sundown and The Dark Edge of Night.

Henri Lefort, the main character, possesses a sense of humor bordering on the dangerous as he threads his way through the bureaucracy of French flics and German boches. These stories count among some of those rare books that, in my opinion, keep you up all night reading. Or cause you to forget an important appointment. Or even to eat!

You might also enjoy his Hugo Marston series of nine books, most taking place in Paris, which begins with The Bookseller.

Let me know what you think, please.

And do join me in the rabbit hole next time!
