Street

Being on the street means a whole lot of things, all very different from being at home, behind the walls, the mind taking on a fortress mode. “Lord of the castle” and that sort of thing.

But on the street, ah, the animal instincts come to the fore, dim and primal memories of danger fight with more pleasant sensations: the energy, the excitement, the adventure, the unknown, the hunt.

And amid the crowds, on the street there can still be a profound sense of isolation and loneliness.

The street takes us places, from A to B, from security to alertness.

What do we seek when we take to the street?

  1. Thank you, Becky. I just glanced down and saw the patterns and shot the photo on the spur of the moment.
