Burnt Toast, or, What Most Food Blogs Never Mention

March 7, 2013 by Cynthia Bertelsen

After waking up to yet another gray, frigid day, I read – not without little frissons of envy, to be honest – the latest crop of great food bloggers selected by The Huffington Post, which run the gamut from folksy to romantic. The photos certainly could festoon the walls of great museums, vying for space next to some of the classic still lifes, which of course still inspire many food photographers. Celebration! With Champagne …

July 25, 2011 by Cynthia Bertelsen

Gherkins & Tomatoes / Cornichons & Tomates celebrates an anniversary in a couple of days, and I would like to thank all readers — old and new — for their ongoing and strong support. A special thanks goes to friends and family, who keep me going by saying nice things and bringing me champagne. This post brings the total number of posts to 751 since July 28, 2008. Fabulous Food Blogs, Round 2

February 7, 2009 by Cynthia Bertelsen

Just in time for a leisurely weekend, a watered-down version of the food blogs Academy Awards. There are ever so many food blogs out there and, to paraphrase Forrest Gump, the roster of food blogs is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you’re going to find. I […]

Food forms the very essence of life, from the fruit fly to the elephant, with humans in between. So much of what we do revolves around cooking, eating, and the finding of food. Here you'll discover stories, meditations, and photographs celebrating the places that we call home. And, of course, the food that garnishes it all.

My book, due out September 15, 2013
