Why GHERKINS & TOMATOES?

Ultimately, life's all about cooks and cooking, feeding the daily hunger and keeping the wolf away from the door. "Gherkins & Tomatoes" zeros in on multicultural foodways and culinary history via the best of all primary sources - COOKBOOKS. And therefore salutes the cooks - mostly women - who invented the "recipes" that have fed humans since the first skewer emerged from the fire.
